RYA Powerboat Courses
Levels 1, 2, Intermediate and Advanced

Based in the Neyland overlooking the marina and waterway.

We are a recognised RYA training centre based Neyland Marina where the lectures and boats will be. Here you will find a lovely cafe and bar overlooking the marina.

The coastline of Pembrokeshire is some of the best in the UK, providing much to see and do. From coastal navigation, night passages along the Milford Haven Waterway, rough water at St Anns Head and plenty of sheltered areas too! We have some great beaches too, like St Brides, Newgale and Broad Haven.

You will find all the courses both interesting and challenging, and you can be sure of having a great time. You will be under the guidance of qualified instructors who will take you through step by step how to handle a powerboat in rough and calm conditions. We have two instructors available, and work within a ratio of three to one.

Courses now run on demand.

No knowledge is requires to do level 1 or level 2.
Group size: 3:1 Instructor

Clothing required: Please bring with you suitable clothing for the time of year and weather conditions. Footwear is NOT provided and you are required to bring trainers or aqua shoes to wear. Showers and changing room facilities are on site.

Meal arrangements: There is a cafe serving hot and cold food at the marina.

The National Powerboat Certificate Including the RYA Level 1 syllabus and building on it by providing you with a sound knowledge of driving a powerboat at high and low speeds, coming alongside, anchoring and man overboard techniques. It also leaves you open to obtaining your International Certificate of Competence (recognised in Europe) and is a requirement for those that want to work within the watersports industry. This course is run over two days. £190.00

RYA Intermediate Course

Powerboat day cruising. Coastal powerboating by day, using GPS and traditional chartwork in high-speed navigation and pilotage. Introduction of the role of skipper. Plan a passage, then go and carry out the passage. The perfect knowledge builder after the Level 2. A two day course. £220.00

“When you want to take a boat to hell and back, its good to count on the ‘back’ part!” For the experienced powerboater providing additional skills such as rough water handling and night navigation. A two day course £280.00

ICC International Certificate of Competence Course length ~ 1 day Certification ~ ICC Previous Experience ~ RYA Level 2, National Powerboat Certificate. To gain an ICC the Level 2 certificate and a sound knowledge of the IRPCS (International regulations for prevention of collision at sea) are required, once these standards are met the Association will issue you with an International Certificate of Competence.

Predator & Marly II

Predator is a fast Offshore 36 Bullet, and fully equipped for RYA advanced courses. Toilets and refreshments on board, together with lecture room. Learn all about safety at sea, weather and navigation.

Marly II is a 6.5 metre rib capable of speeds of 50 kts, with a new fuel injected engine, 140hp a four stroke beast! We do most of the work from the rib taking you out into the rougher water for the best experience you can ever get.
There will be plenty of hands on experience for everyone, as we keep the numbers down on the boat to a minimum of three.
